David Warner, the Australian left-handed opener, has managed to score 200 in his 100th test match. Not many international players play 100 test matches for their country. Achieving the feat of 100 test matches is a very big thing but scoring 200 in that very game is as good as it gets. With that said, here’s a look at what happened and who the other players who scored a 200 in their 100th test match are:

Joe Root and David Warner scored 200 in their 100th Test Match. Root scored 100 in the 100th test match in Chennai in the England tour of India 2021. This series was a part of the 2021 WTC cycle. It was the first test match of the series. Joe Root harassed the Indian spinners by playing his trademark sweep shot. It was the trio of Shahbaz Nadeem, R Ashwin, and Washington Sundar which was taken to the cleaners by Root.

For Warner, it was a fun day while batting with Steve Smith. It was like a movie. Warner was playing his 100th game at the MCG. A boxing day test match at one of the greatest stadiums in the world. David Warner scored 200 in his 100th test match and joined Joe Root on this elite list. 

David Warner Retires Hurt After Scoring 200: 

The anti-climax of his inning was him getting retired hurt after celebrating the 200. The cramps in his hamstring were making it difficult for him. The sun shines bright at the MCG and the scorching heat might have taken a toll on his body. He ended his inning scoring 200 from 254 balls.  

Australia in a firm position in Boxing Day Test Match: 

With the help of David Warner’s splendid knock, the Australian cricket team is in a firm position. They have now obtained a 197-run lead while moving into the 3rd day of the boxing day test match. All eyes are now set on when the Australian team ends its inning. They will either play a slow and steady game and declare or they may take a riskier attacking approach.   • Steve Smith: 85 runs out of 161 balls.
